Transferring Sensitive Information To Cloud Storage Is Safe

As per the nonprofit Cloud Security Alliance’s survey, 69% of businesses are transferring mission-critical data to cloud storage platforms or they have already done so. The survey also reveals that 65% of entities are bothered about transferring sensitive information and that there are security concerns for 59% of these.

It is understandable where they come from. In the event of your data being in any cloud storage platform, it would simply mean that it does not exist in the data center of yours. You will not be able to touch the web server, so it has to be vulnerable or unsafe.

The fact is contrary to what you would instinctively expect. For the last few years at the least, cloud technology has proven more capable in terms of security than almost every on-premise system. This was achieved with more security businesses paying attention to the growing market of cloud computing and by investing in research and development there, instead of on-premise security solutions.

Security is associated with not only an entity’s capability of leveraging the correct systems but also the skill of people who are choosing and putting these systems into practice. Nothing is fully secure. Even so, the possibility of public cloud storage giving a stronger security system for your data is more as compared to your own data center providing it. The main cause of this is being able to access the most sophisticated security systems whenever you require these.

So, why are entities suddenly keen on transferring sensitive and mission-critical data to cloud storage? The reason is due to the coronavirus epidemic. The crisis exposed problems regarding both the access and security of data for on-premise systems. Sometimes, human beings were unable to access data centers, so they had to fix outages from distant locations. This remote fixing is not possible for certain problems, such as equipment failures.

A positive aspect of the epidemic is the increased level of cloud migration, but almost every business is slightly doubtful of the efficacy of cloud security even today. As the survey demonstrates, over half of the entities that moved data to public cloud storage are anxious regarding it.

Years before, businesses have gone past the critical stage of the so-called cloud technology becoming more secure. There might be political struggles about utilizing the cloud platform for vital data in your business entity, but exists evidence that it is simply better for data.
